In just three short years, 1961-1963, JFK as 'potus' impacted the world with a fresh and idealistic imagery for the USA government. He welded it to trending social consciousness of the baby boomer generation, and projected out a concept that Washington DC under this chiefdom, was now a shining city on a hill, that (post-WW2) was presently about advocating, spreading, working for... peace, justice, good will, hope for a better future for all of mankind. And due considerably to his personal charm and communicative skill.. He "sold" this imagery, instantly, thru TV, across all continents. He turned the image of the WHITE HOUSE into a House of NEW REPUTATION... He cast all of DC as a global peacemaker, educator, charity sponsor (he launched the Peace Corps btw). This HOUSE OF GOOD REPUTE, government of good intentions... imagery... accrued the USA an immense wealth of 'political capital' in a short span of time. Attracted the good will of many nations, both in their own press, in diplomacy, and at the UN. The HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT, was the reputation given to Washington of being an altruistic government guided by good-will / good intentions. And quite remarkably, this IMAGERY and it's attendant political capital, lasted thru numerous succeeding regimes, all of which deserved its glow and vibration... a lot less.
JFK gifted Washington during his presidency, with an AURA of Christian good will. Many sins of the DC government since then have chipped away at said positive caricature of Uncle Sam. Yet strangely there lingered some reverberations in DC's image, of JFK's political idealism.
