How can we say this gently and politely? It's an observation of concern. But we don't want to bring it up in Sam Kinison style. Rather in Caine of Kung Fu style. Gently and politely. WHAT's THE OBSERVATION? By and large... thru all stripes of 'news' media... amidst all the tension and surging craziness that's vastly about us in the world today... Most journos have forgotten some very very basic tenets of.. JOURNALISM.
And how is this brought to our attention? ----By the absence of some key reporting that SHOULD BE.
In recent days / weeks we have seen plenty of coverage on the FACTS of INFLATION, supply SHORTAGES. political INSANITY in DC... But far too little coverage of how all this is IMPACTING Mr. and Ms. America.
Back in the olde days where journalism was not so under assault (from numerous sorts of things) as it is today.. journos simply practiced their craft and comfortably knew what it means to be a news person. A lot of that basic understanding has been fogged of late.
Case in point... The baby Formula Shortage. Over the past several days we have seen endless footage of empty shelves. But candidly we have not seen ANY tv news footage wherein mothers were asked HOW ARE YOU COPING with the fact you can't get formula at the store? WE HAVE seen clips of moms saying--- Oh this is terrible! Hey we're NOT dense, we KNOW it's terrible. But our obvious next concern and caring is -- HOW ARE MOMS WITH BABIES.. c-o-p-i-n-g with this nightmare? We really truly want to know.

And we gotta comment, back in ye olde days of non-frenzied journalism, it would have been a natural reflex for news people across the nation to be interviewing moms left and right asking the question. HOW ARE YOU COPING?

Likewise, footage asking motorists HOW ARE YOU COPING with having to bear "gasoline prices for millionaires" at the pump? We've seen footage at gasoline stations of motorists saying.. Oh this is terrible! YESS we KNOW it's terrible. But how are people COPING with this nightmare?

Also let's salute INFOWARS for doing something smart that we have not seen any others do. They went out and asked people their feelings on abortion AFTER being told and shown what the process involves. With the topic all stirred up, isn't that like an obvious thing good journos should do? Make sure that BEFORE you ask someone's opinion on the subject ---That they know enough to have an opinion worth hearing?
There are so many topics like this which we regret to observe... seem to be lacking NORMAL journalistic thinking and curiosity these days. So we wanted to offer a gentle and polite prod... to those in the news biz.
So much of media today is no longer straight news but NEWS AND COMMENTARY, that perhaps in the frenzy to voice a lot of commentary, people are forgetting to wear their thinking cap often enough --in the NEWS ZONE.

I recall viewing the great Oliver Stone film JFK with Kevin Costner, and watching the scene where he (as Garrison) is pouring thru the WARREN REPORT volumes and being aghast at OBVIOUS QUESTIONS WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN ASKED OF WITNESSES, not being asked.
There's a lotta shock and awe going on in our world today. And journos are people. We know you are impacted by it too. Which is why we are being gentle in this reminder piece. PLEASE... Don't be so shocked and awed that your forget the job. The basics. Which are to ask ask ask. And ask the right people the important questions. Relentlessly. And fearlessly.

How many of you have just operated from WH and Pentagon talking points, and adopted an attitude that you must go with their views? Why? What prompts one to do that? It's what input you are consuming. It's not broad enough. And you should not be taking sides. You are reporters not cheerleaders. Tell everything that's available to be told. After all, isn't that the job? if you're being accurate you need to say -- With 40 bil earmarked for a nation we have no direct national interests in, nor security fears from, USA's runaway inflation currently seems more NATO's price hike, than Putin's price hike. Right? Shouldn't the question be raised as to what's REALLY causing your empty pockets? Putin ain't getting 40 billion of your money. NATO's proxy war with Russia is.

Don't forget, NATO is not some charitable foundation, or a party catering company. IT'S A MILITARY FORMED TO FIGHT A WAR WITH RUSSIA. That's it's only stated purpose. It does not want peace. Are one's eyes clear and one's reporting candid? Journos aren't cheerleaders. They just report what is. And clearly, the price hikes don't belong to PUTIN. They belong to Victoria Nuland AND HER (literally) INSANE AGENDA (which has been covertly navigated for 6+ years). If you are a principled journo you tell all that can be told.
