Twenty years ago as Bill Clinton won election and gave the nation economic resurgence, Wall Street took off like a firecracker. ONE CHANGE is that somewhat less money is moving around in New York City post 2008. Wall Street has downsized, cutting tens of thousands of jobs. And the city overall has suffered a bit from spending constriction. So that is one factor.
ANOTHER factor is a trending lower on patronage to strip clubs. The lapdancing trend began in Manhattan in 1991 as the club Flashdancers opened. The glitz of the rage escalated for several years till there was practically a table dancing club in every town of 30,000 or more in the tristate metro area (New York City, Long Island, Westchester, Connecticut Fairfield County, and Northern and central New Jersey). The surfeit of lap dance topless strip clubs took some wind out of the fad, as did mere familiarity with the format (which has not changed one iota in 22 years in the New York City region).
Some bachelor parties do not make that visit to the strip club at all. And some bachelor parties do not even have strippers. Things have changed.
